SAT & ACT Testing Information
Standardized testing is an important aspect of college admissions for the majority of colleges and universities around the world.
- Juniors, and all juniors throughout the State of Colorado, are required to take the SAT in April of each year. There is no fee for this test. SVVHS staff will register all juniors for this test at school.
- Sophomores will take the PSAT10 in April of each year. There is no fee for this test and SVVHS staff will register sophomores for this test at school.
- Freshman will take the PSAT8/9 in April of each year. There is no fee for this test and SVVHS staff will register freshmen for this test at school.
Taking an SAT or ACT a second or third time on a National Test Day is also as a chance to improve scores. Some students choose to take both the ACT and the SAT, but both are widely accepted at most, if not all, colleges and universities throughout the U.S.
Students register for the National SAT, SAT 2-Subject and ACT tests on their own. A limited number of registration fee waivers are provided by SAT and ACT. Ask the SVVHS counselor for more information.
Students should review all testing requirements for specific colleges and universities directly on the official college websites. As well, all dates for testing and registration should viewed only on the official SAT and ACT websites, not third party websites.
