With over 30 years in education, Stacey Struessel brings a deep well of experience, compassion, and commitment to her role as principal of St. Vrain Virtual High School. She has served in many capacities throughout her career—including paraprofessional, teacher, school social worker, behavior specialist, preschool administrator, District Mental and Behavioral Health Coordinator, and school administrator—but leading this alternative high school is, without question, her favorite role yet.

Stacey is currently pursuing her doctorate in Educational Leadership and Policy Studies at the University of Northern Colorado, continuing her lifelong passion for learning and leadership. She is especially dedicated to helping students thrive through innovative, student-centered approaches that honor the unique paths each learner takes.

Originally from Illinois, Stacey has called Colorado home since 1995. She and her husband have been married for more than 30 years and are the proud parents of two young adult sons—one of whom graduated from St. Vrain Virtual High School!

Outside of work, Stacey enjoys traveling, hiking Colorado’s beautiful trails, and spending quality time with close friends. Her warmth, experience, and vision make her a trusted leader and advocate for both students and staff.
